Asset Freezing Order Task Force

About the Committee

In 2014, the Uniform Law Commission created The Uniform Asset Preservation Orders Act (formerly The Uniform Asset Freezing Orders Act) and distributed it to the state legislatures urging passage. This model legislation contained several serious flaws that worked against judicial fairness and to the detriment of the defense bar. The DRI Asset Freezing Order Task Force was created to monitor action in the state legislatures and to act, in cooperation with SLDOs to oppose the legislation. In early action, the legislation was tabled or defeated in the first five jurisdictions in which it was introduced.
