DRI’s Mary Re Knack Named Chair of the Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition for 2018-2019

CHICAGO ­– (July 10, 2018)—The Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition (MARC) has named Mary Re Knack as its chair for the 2018-2019 term. MARC is a national Coalition advocating for the improvement of the Medicare and Medicaid Secondary Payer (MSP) programs.

Founded in 2008, the Coalition collaborates and develops strategic alliances with Medicare beneficiaries, affected companies, and a wide range of other stakeholders to work with the Congress and government agencies to implement MSP reforms that will improve the process for all. MARC’s membership represents virtually every sector of the MSP regulated community, including plaintiffs and defense attorneys, brokers, insureds, insurers, insurance and trade associations, self-insureds and third-party administrators.

Mary Re Knack is a member in the Seattle office of Ogden Murphy Wallace where her practice includes health care, insurance  and other civil matters. Ms. Knack provides a wide range of legal services to members of the health care industry including  regulatory, confidentiality and privacy-related compliance and litigation services.  Ms. Knack’s practice also includes advice and litigation relating to insurance coverage and bad faith for policyholders and the insurance industry including property and casualty, life, health and disability.  Further Ms. Knack provides guidance and advice to the insurance industry and self-insureds with respect to their obligations under the MSP Action and Section 111 of the MMSEA. 

Ms. Knack has been a DRI member for twenty years. She has served as chair, vice chair, or member of eighteen DRI committees, task forces, and DRI’s Law Institute. She is a member of the MSP Task Force of DRI’s Center for Law and Public Policy. Knack has been published multiple times in DRI publications and has been a featured speaker at thirteen DRI seminars.

Ms. Knack was named to Super Lawyers by Washington Law & Politics magazine for 2005 and 2010 - 2018. She has also been recognized by Seattle Met magazine as a “Top Lawyer” in Health Care for 2011 and has been designated as one of the “Top Women Attorneys in Washington” for 2012-2018.
