The DRI survey is the only national survey of public attitudes on the civil justice system. Based on telephone interviews among a representative, random sample of over 1,000 adults, all surveys have been produced for DRI by the independent survey research firm Langer Research Associates in New York. Gary Langer is the former head of polling for ABC News and has won or been nominated for several Emmy Awards for his work.
The survey touches on a range of important current topics in civil jurisprudence with survey questions that include personal experiences with the civil courts, confidence in the courts, investor-funded lawsuits, mandatory arbitration in product disputes, class action reform, trust in certain industry sectors, jury service, judicial independence, and others.
