Bad faith claims against insurance companies are filled with risks and traps for the unwary. It is crucial that insurance professionals at all levels know what it takes not only to defend against these claims successfully once they are brought, but to avoid them in the first place. DRI’s Insurance Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Liability Seminar will provide attendees with valuable insight into a variety of issues that confront practitioners and claims professionals in the bad faith arena. The DRI Trucking Law Committee is hosting its first-ever defense litigation primer designed for young lawyers or those new to the practice area. Attendees will learn in an informal table-discussion format and hear from some of the nation’s leading experts on the trucking industry, accident reconstruction, biomechanics, defense pleadings, trucking discovery, ethical considerations, and defending trials. No other program is as comprehensive or cost-effective. Registration—only $200 for DRI members and $225 for nonmembers—is limited for this one-day event.

DRI’s Global Arbitration Summit will look at the evolving role of arbitration in an increasingly global and interconnected world. The summit will open with a keynote address by John Beechey, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. Other participants include experienced attorneys and in-house counsel, who will share recent trends in different industries and jurisdictions concerning the use of arbitration. The DRI Life, Health and Disability Committee is once again sponsoring a program for lawyers who are new to the practice. The program will be taught by highly experienced attorneys and will be aimed at providing a basic understanding of the concepts applicable to life, health and disability litigation. Rave reviews followed the inaugural program in 2011. Young lawyers and older lawyers who are new to the practice or who wish to brush up on their skills are encouraged to attend! To encourage the classroom atmosphere, registration will be limited to 50 persons.
